Banbury United

Report from the Unofficial Puritan website:
With United looking for a top ten finish to the season and Hemel looking to improve their play-off aspirations this was a game that both teams needed to win.
The game itself, however failed to live up to expectations with the game having an end of season feel to it and neither side showing any urgency to win the game, although United could have won the game had they converted a 60th minute penalty.
After a blank first half,in which United were guilty of missing several chances, they were awarded the penalty on the hour mark after Andy Baird was bundled over in the box.
Ady Fuller, usually reliable from 12 yards out, failed to convert the penalty and Hemel responded by taking the lead within a minute of the miss, through Chris Dillon.
The Tudors lead only lasted a minute though with Wayne Blossom equalizing for United.

Report from the Banbury Chronicle:
IN their penultimate home game of the season, Banbury United had to be content with a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Hemel Hempstead Town at Spencer Stadium.
Wayne Blossom earned United a point, cancelling out Chris Dillon's opener but it could have been so different had Ady Fuller not missed a penalty just before Hemel broke the deadlock.
Missed chances cost United as they dominated for long periods. Play-off chasing Hemel looked anything but that as they struggled to get a foothold against a United side looking to get back to winning ways.
With ten minutes gone Nicky Gordon saw his effort parried by keeper Ian Brown and Yiadom Yeboah cleared the danger. Three minutes later Stuart Bridges shot on the turn and Brown saved well to keep the ball from going just inside the upright.
Gordon continued to cause problems but it was Fuller who should have taken the lead in the 59th minute when Andy Baird was upended by Simon Sweeney. Fuller's weak spot-kick went wide of the post and two minutes later the visitors took the lead. A free-kick was not dealt with and Chris Dillon took advantage to score.
But straight from the kick-off United levelled when Blossom hit a superb volley wide of Brown from 12 yards. But a single point was the least United deserved for their endeavours.
