Saturday 11th August
Chesham United 1 Hemel Town 1
Another poor performance in front of goal gave the home side a draw. Drew Roberts scored after seven minutes, nodding down Chris Herron's cut back from the by-line to give the Tudors an early lead. But poor finishing from Herron, Dean Cracknell (twice), Aaron Cavill, Roberts & Ollie Burgess left the Tudors open to the sucker punch, and this eventually came on the half hour when Danny Burnell lost Nathan Bowden-Haase outside the area to slip the ball under advancing keeper Steve Smith.
The half ended in controversy as Burgess forced the ball over the line from a Roberts corner kick, but home keeper Andy Hall hooked the ball out and the linesman ruled that it had not crossed the line when it clearly had done so.
The second half however was a non event. Chesham changed their side by putting all five subs on from the start and Hemel simply failed to respond as the home players looked to impress their new boss Andy Leese.
In the end keeper Hall never touched the ball in anger all half, and Hemel were grateful to end on level terms as the Generals controlled much of the half, missing several chances to take the win themselves.
