Now that Aylesbury have ended their ground sharing with Chesham they are looking for a new ground for next season. On their forum Vauxhall Road has been suggested as one of the possibilities , what do people think about this idea.
Personally,I think it would be terrible, our pitch is bad enough at the moment, god knows what it would be like with an extra 25 or so game's played on it.Although on the other hand,no doubt it would be financially good for the club.

Here's a link to the thread on the Aylesbury forum

ive got nothing against Aylesbury as a football club BUT this would be a terrible idea and will F up the pitch even more.i do hope they find a pitch for nextseason but not our one because we have 1st team, reserves, youth, ladies and pointless county 11 a side finals like the one they are having today on it. ive always said that it should only be JUST 1st team, res, youth and ladies ONLY because the pitch cant handle anything else.

The pitch obviously can't take it, but since when has Dave ever turned down a bit of extra money for people to play on it?

Surely they'd be better sharing with Thame or even Tring Athletic ? What happened to their old ground - it used to be quite a tidy place. They weren't taken over by a property developer were they ? Rolling Eyes Confused

Mad Shame on you Pidge, when the communities most senior club hosts lower league cup finals it gives smaller clubs a real incentive to reach the final and play at a half decent venue. More importantly it shows our club has a real sense of community spirit. Hundreds of people compete in the Herts County and West Herts leagues each week, not to mention their managers, secretary's etc putting in hours of unpaid and under-valued effort just to ensure their players can run around on poor quailty pitches in front of a handful of supporters. (I wont go in to bar takings etc which would benefit the club) If we made it to the FA Trophy final, how impressed would you be if Wembley refused to host it on the basis it was "pointless"?

i stand by my opinion
if these finals were played after the season ended then i would not have a problem BUT we got relegated due to the fact the pitch was cut to shreads in 2004/05 when the ball bobbled over millard and into the net against merthyr and last season the pitch was so cut up even when the club made rapairs the pitch was not 100% come the start of this season.

like i said if there was a week after the season that we could play 4 or 5 finls in a week then that would be fine.

we've hosted these finals for many, many years at this stage of the season and many clubs at our level have a similar situation. Cast your mind back to 1998/99 before the pitch was levelled, the bottom end would be totally submerged in water around this time of year, the first few years after the pitch was levelled weren't too great either - in comparison our current pitch is Wembley-esq.

A ball bobbling past a keeper can not be pointed out as a make or break part of the season, consistently better performances over a whole season would've made that bobble irrelevant.

I'm with Pidge - too much football is played at VR over the course of the season, and by the end our pitch looks like a sandpit. Of course it's very nice for these players to play at a nice ground, but I support Hemel Hempstead Town, and want the pitch to be at it's best for when they play. Who's to say we wouldn't be playing Conference football by now if it weren't for the state of the pitch at the end of the 2005 season?

I'm not talking about specific county matches but in general for a pitch like ours there is WAY too much football played on it, Pidge mentioned it should be for 1st team, ressies, youth and Ladies football but it appears it can't handle that and although unlikely using it purely for 1st team fixtures would benefit us greatly.

I guess the proposed new ground with numerous pitches would make this possible but i'm guessing that's a long way off if at all.

Nothing like having the best prep for the buisness end of the season.

if the rumours are to be believed, aylesbury have already approached hemel regarding the ground share.
lets hope that the club can see past the lure of some easy money and put the needs of hemel first,to keep the pitch in anything like a good shape will not be helped from having more games played on it.

perhaps we should start a keep the ducks out campaign, although as fans i don't suppose the club would take any notice of what we think.
