Just read on MITS that Roberts has gone.
Whats Pidge's spin or the word from the fans? Was he good enough?
Do you think Bateman will now approach Barton for Sippetts, cos he look a shadow of his former self over there. |

Signed for Cambridge City and there was me thinking it would have been Barton Rovers.
Should save a bit on the wage bill, did nothing for the last few games, but then again he never had much service.I think Bateman should get onto both Sippetts and Sinclair, now Nicholls has gone it may change their minds about playing for Hemel.
....from the Cambridge site.....

The Lilywhites are pleased to welcome Drew Roberts to the squad, whom he has joined from Hemel Hemstead where he has scored 23 goals this season. Drew has previous experience with Bedford Town, Aylesbury United, Kettering Town and Histon. Having signed on Tuesday evening Drew has trained with the team and is available for City’s match at Eastbourne on Saturday.

just seen this story on the non-league daily site, how many players are we down to now.
let's hope whoever starts up front on saturday look's a bit more interested than drew did in the past month or so.
true, roberts didn't get good service but he didn't seem able to create chance's for himself and was reduced to wandering around with his hands on hip's, plameresque, looking lost. |

| So that leaves us with Dillon and Hunt up front, and no other options. Any word on the central midfielder Bateman was talking about in the Gazette? Suggest a rousing chorus of "We want our Sippetts back" from the singers on Saturday... |

to answer your question mate, i was really excited when he signed and in the first few months of the season he was banging in goals left right and centre but as the months wore on and largely due to lack of service and confidence he lost form.
I dont think come back this season but this is football and i would not 110% rule it out. Love to see him back and sincs! _________________ WALKA FOR CLUBMAN OF THE YEAR 2008

A few comments on Drew Roberts from the Cambridge City forum...
"I've heard good things about Drew from what I have read in the local papers down here and from speaking to other folks at Hemel"
"Another reason why Gary Roberts is THE man for City, I am sure a lot of clubs were sniffing around Drew with a goalscoring record like that but Robbo has got him to sign for City"
Fuck me,what have people been telling these people....

I think you are being rather harsh Hemelgrumpygooner - Harry hasn't really had a run in the team to be fair and if you are not attending tomorrow I,ll enjoy my "loopdeloop" on my own !
P.S. if on the other hand you are a bit "brassic lint" after paying your outrageous tax bill I,ll let you have a "rubadub" (pay me back when you are more affluent.) |

I,m sure hemeltinyhammer if Mr H Hunt was a good player he would have had a longer run, I,m sure SB only plays him when he has no other forward available.
I,m not grumpy, just feel the player is not good enough, simple as!!!!
Could one of the regulars on here, either agree or disagree with me, I,d like to here what others feel. |

Personally ,I'd have given Harry Hunt a run in the team some time ago,Drew Roberts seemed untouchable in the team, guarenteed his starting place no matter how he'd played.Harry's 3 league goals since the end of December is a better return than both Roberts and Dillon. Also ,he looks as though he's actually putting in some effort.I remember when Drew first came here and people used to accuse him of being greedy, well,I didnt mind that at least if he was greedy he had the ball and was doing something.Recently though he just seemed as though he'd lost interest and the effort just didn't seem to be there. _________________ FOYSC

I'd have to agree with that.
Harry's done ok in the matches he's played so far but obviously he's not entirely match fit yet.
We do need to strengthen the squad in all area's though so be looking for a few signings before the transfer deadline. |
