Time to accept we going down?

Postby glenneldridge » Sun Feb 07, 2010 2:32 pm

Does anyone think its time to accept we will get relegated and start looking towards next seasons push for promotion?

Absolutely. Losing to the big teams is to be expected, but watching that insipid crap yesterday against a team even worse than us tells you all you need to know, we're down and might as well start putting stuff in place to get us back up.

I think that the whole club has accepted that we are going down and that has been the case since the start of the season in my opinion. If we managed to stay up it would have been a bonus but from the board down I reckon relegation was a price we were going to pay when the budget was cut. :(

I thought we were going to struggle after watching that crap performence away at Bedford. Accepted we were going down by the end of november. Just hope we can build a team next season that can achieve promotion straight back up.

Yep we are on our way down despite all the comments of our manager to the contrary . also agree the time is right for planning ahead for next season so that everything is in place for a promotion push.

Accepted it a long time ago, thats why i can't get too worked up about performances like Saturday. We're not good enough and we know it, so why get depressed about it ?.
I just watch them, cheer them on and enjoy whatevers on offer - it isnt going to get any better so why make it worse by yelling at the players and effecting their already fragile confidence even more. You never know they might surprise us and give us a couple of decent results to cheer before the end.
I am worried by the presence of a certain person in the bar after game though. I hope "rebuilding to get us back up again" dosn't involve him at the helm.

In all honesty we were most probably doomed the moment Dave announced the budget cut at the AGM, and that Dennis Green was tasked with the job of keeping us up. When the vast majority of the decent players from last season left the club to be replaced by the dross Green brought in it just reinforced the feeling of doom. Gary Phillips has got his own players in but once again too many of them are not up to it, perhaps the impending arrival of the big strong forward is going save us, lets hope so.

Look familiar?
Starting line-up Woodford 0 Slough 1

Ricky Perks Simon Sweeney Danny Murphy Robbie Kean Nathan Bowden-Haase Dean Clark Steve Sinclair Chris Herron Sean Sonner Elliot Buchanan Paul Edgeworth

Sinclair scored the only goal after 10 minutes

if this was out starting line up, we wouldnt be in a relegation battle. HOWEVER... we wouldnt be chasing automatic promotion either, and there's not a lot else Bateman had up his sleeve. Great times under Bateman and some of the best performances/players during the Boggins-era, but the club had to take a gamble. That didnt pay off, then we had the budget cuts, and here we are. But at least it's a change from the predictable missing out on promotion by losing the play-offs.

I dont honestly think we needed to take any gamble, we were doing very well under bateman in fact the highest this club has ever been, To be fair marc i think things were going a bit messy with bateman but in all honesty we lost a good manager in steve.

i know at the time ,people were saying bateman has lost the dressing room and maybe he had to go, but looking back i wish he had never got sacked , still nothing we can do about it now apart from getting behind phillips and trying to get out of this mess :D

There may have been an even more familiar look if Garry Sippetts and Yiadom Yeboah had been in the squad last Saturday and Jamie Jackson come to think of it !!
Keep the faith, we've been there and it's not pleasant which is why we are enjoying our moment although we haven't won a thing yet but at least we've already got more points than we did last season.
Interesting though that the team referred to above, costs us a lot less than you are publicly stating you pay out each week and you didn't try and keep them together !!
